Rafael Márquez will rely on Spaniards with extensive experience, including Juan Manuel Lillo and Vidal Paloma, with whom he will work focused on delivering a strong performance with Mexico in the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The Mexican Football Federation announced Márquez's coaching staff this Friday, which will include assistants Lillo, with over 40 years of experience in game analysis; Paloma, with an extensive career in methodology and training in Spain; and the Mexican Andrés Guardado, who played in five World Cups with El Tri.
Eliminated by England in the round of 16 of the last World Cup, Mexico stopped being managed by Javier Aguirre, replaced by the 'Kaiser' Márquez, one of the three most prominent footballers in the country's history, who worked as an assistant to 'Vasco' and intends to provide continuity to his work.
Mexican soccer officials confirmed today that two other Spaniards will collaborate with the growth of the national team: Xabier Mancisidor, who after thirteen seasons as a goalkeeping specialist at Manchester City, will be the goalkeeper coach, and Pol Lorente, who will continue to lead physical preparation.
In the cycle that will conclude in 2030, Rafa Márquez will count on a combination of highly talented young players led by midfielder Gilberto Mora, and veterans still in good form, with whom he will take on international commitments, the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers, and the World Cup, should they qualify.
"Overall, the coaching staff brings together international experience, specialization, and continuity with different generations, schools, and ways of working, as well as experience in elite competitions such as the World Cups, UEFA Champions League, Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Eredivisie, and national teams," explained the Federation.
The national team will reappear after the World Cup in the FIFA date matches in September and October, where they will face Colombia on September 26 in the United States; Peru on the 29th; the United States on October 3; and Chile on the 6th.
