In an interview with TUDN, Emilio Azcárraga, who leads Grupo Ollamani, spoke about the possibility of carrying out more activities at the venue, in addition to soccer and concerts.

Canelo Álvarez responded positively to Emilio Azcárraga’s proposal. The Mexican boxer assured TUDN that “it would be an honor” to fight in Mexico and at the Estadio Azteca, and that he does not rule it out “at all.”

“The truth is that for me it is always an honor to fight in Mexico and in front of my people, and even more so in a stadium like the Estadio Azteca; for me it would be an honor and I do not rule it out at all, I hope that someday I get the opportunity to fight there.”

Canelo Álvarez also spoke about the atmosphere that is felt at the Estadio Azteca, which he experienced during the 2026 World Cup as an attendee. The athlete from Guadalajara stated that the energy of the place is “very beautiful” and that there is “a lot of history.”
