The United States government has officially unveiled America.gov, a new digital platform powered by artificial intelligence that aims to become a one-stop shop for accessing federal information and services.
The initiative was announced by the White House and is part of a strategy to modernize the experience of citizens when interacting with government agencies.
America.gov will function as a central point where people can make inquiries, obtain answers based on official sources, and, in the future, complete various procedures without needing to navigate between "dozens of government websites."
What is America.gov?
The government states that America.gov is a "secure, intelligent, and service-oriented" platform designed for citizens to access federal information and services from a single location. The system uses artificial intelligence to answer questions with up-to-date information from official U.S. government websites.
The platform aggregates content from over 29,000 government websites, preventing users from having to search across multiple agencies to find answers or perform specific tasks.
Currently, users can ask questions about federal programs, benefits, employment, travel, healthcare, and other public services. The generated answers include references to the official sources used to prepare the information.
Procedures that can be simplified with artificial intelligence
The first stage of America.gov focuses on offering information and guidance. However, in the coming months, features will be integrated that will allow procedures to be carried out directly from the platform.
Among the officially mentioned services are:

During the launch, President Donald Trump explained that one of the goals is that processes which currently require filling out several forms and visiting different websites can be completed through a single interaction with America.gov.
How will it help with passport procedures?
Although the passport application process currently continues to be carried out through the official U.S. Department of State systems, the U.S. administration reported that America.gov will in the future allow for managing processes related to document renewal from a unified interface.
The platform will be able to guide users on requirements, necessary documentation, and steps to submit applications, in addition to facilitating integration with the government services responsible for passports.
What will America.gov be used for?
The main purpose of the project is to simplify the relationship between citizens and the federal government. According to the White House, Americans spend billions of hours each year on federal procedures and forms, so the new platform seeks to reduce that administrative burden through simpler and more accessible digital tools.
The executive order instructs federal agencies to integrate their public services into America.gov so that it acts as a single "gateway" to government services.
In addition, the government states that the system was designed with measures focused on user privacy and security. Official information indicates that the platform does not use advertising and that conversations are not saved once the session ends.
The creation of America.gov represents one of the largest artificial intelligence projects implemented by the U.S. federal government for citizen service. The General Services Administration (GSA) noted that the goal is to offer a faster, clearer, and more efficient experience for accessing programs, benefits, and official procedures.
