Will the minimum wage increase next year? Will you earn more money in 2027? President Claudia Sheinbaum gave details regarding this increase that could be given to workers to benefit their household income.
What is the current minimum wage? In 2026, the salary depends on the area of the country where the worker is located; generally, the minimum wage is 315.04 pesos per day (9,582.47 pesos per month), while in the Northern Border Free Zone it is 440.87 pesos (13,409.80 pesos per month).
Since the beginning of Sheinbaum's administration, an increase to the minimum wage has been applied, an increase established in the document "100 Steps for the Transformation".
In this regard, during her morning conference on October 15, the president indicated that the government will listen to the private sector's proposals, but insisted that next year's salary increase will be part of the negotiation.
“We have a model, a project, and we do not betray that project,” the president stated. For now, the final figure for the increase remains pending. The National Minimum Wage Commission (Conasami) will be in charge of agreeing on the new amount with representatives of workers, employers, and the federal government.
How much will the minimum wage rise in 2027?
As of today, there is no official figure on how much the minimum wage will increase in Mexico in 2027.
What is known is what the president determined in her "100 Steps for the Transformation" document, that "the growth of the Minimum Wage must be maintained in real terms (increases above inflation)."
Furthermore, it specifies that the minimum wage increase must be "above inflation and with the goal of being sufficient to purchase 2.5 basic food baskets."
When will the 2027 minimum wage increase be announced?
The minimum wage negotiation usually concludes towards the end of the year. The figure corresponding to 2027 is expected to be known in December, once Conasami reaches an agreement and the official resolution is published. The new amount would enter into force on January 1, 2027.
