Through a letter addressed to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, politician Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of the former president of Mexico (2018-2024), Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reported this Thursday that the government of that country has canceled his visa to enter its territory.
In a letter dated August 13 in Teapa, in the state of Tabasco, southeastern Mexico, López Beltrán stated that the decision was made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau.
In the text, López Beltrán considered that such a decision is of a "political, or rather, petty and propagandistic nature, in the Hitlerian style."
He asserted that both U.S. officials "do not have any proof" against him "regarding any immoral or criminal act," and that the revocation of the visa is a reprisal against countries, governments, and politicians who "do not align themselves or submit to their authoritarian, factional, and corrupt agendas."
López Beltrán noted in the text that it does not cause him "any problem not to visit the United States in these decadent and regrettable times of hate, racism, drug addiction, family disintegration, social unrest, and sadness."
And he added that he could "wait until things change and favorable circumstances exist" like when Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt governed, those giants of freedom who treated Mexico and its people with authentic friendship and respect for their sovereignty.
In the three-page letter, the son of the former president of Mexico addresses Trump, saying he would like to know his opinion on his case "and hopefully you won't take it as a challenge," but considered "that it would be of high moral level and public interest" for him to answer two questions:
"Are you aware of what I am exposing to you? And if you were, does it not seem like an act of arrogance on your part, which demonstrates, as my father wrote recently, that you are a ruler today who is apathetic and different from the one he knew and dealt with?" the politician noted.
On June 3, López Obrador published a letter on his social networks in which he denounced the interventionist attitude of the United States government in Mexico, while expressing his "unconditional" support for the current Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum.
In the five-page letter, titled 'For the good of all, may the other Trump return,' López Obrador attributed "the surprising change" in the President of the United States, Donald Trump, "to his false friends and internal and foreign advisers who have been embarking him on vile and sinister adventures."
He added that "some United States officials are plotting to weaken Morena (the National Regeneration Movement party founded by López Obrador) and strengthen the right-wing opposition in Mexico with the idea of returning to a government that is submissive, corrupt, mafia-like, and cruel," and therefore vulnerable, subordinate, and faithful to their interventionist designs.
