A quake of magnitude 5 and several aftershocks were recorded in Costa Rica early this Monday. So far, no structural damage or injuries have been reported, while videos have surfaced on social media showing how the seismic movement was felt.
According to EFE, the 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred at 1:37 a.m. local time (7:37 GMT) and was felt both in the Costa Rican capital and in other nearby areas.

The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Ovsicori) reported that the epicenter was located 8 kilometers northeast of San Isidro de Coronado, San José province, at a depth of 11 kilometers.
Following this first earthquake, around 30 aftershocks of lower intensity have occurred, including one of magnitude 4.5, which happened 3 minutes after the initial quake.
According to the National Emergency Commission (CNE), the 5.0 and 4.5 magnitude earthquakes, as well as the other aftershocks, have left no casualties.

The seismic movement surprised the inhabitants of Costa Rica, who shared videos of the moment on social media.
In a video taken by a security camera facing the street, you can see how the power lines sway, as well as the camera itself.
In another video, taken from a garage, you can see the doors of a cabinet opening and a white pickup truck moving from side to side.
Another shows the interior of a house, where several cats are seen in the living room and kitchen. When the earthquake begins, the animals flee in terror and the furniture starts to move.
In another video, also from a garage, you can see a motorcycle swaying and hear what appears to be the sound of the entrance gates.
