The late singer's mother came to the defense of her daughter and the memory of her husband, Abraham Quintanilla, after A.B. claimed that a lawsuit exists against Suzette and revealed that there were family situations that led him to make such a decision.
The dispute within the Quintanilla family escalated publicly after A.B. Quintanilla confirmed, through a statement on September 1, 2026, that there is a lawsuit related to his sister Suzette and to facts linked to his late father.
A day later, Marcella and Suzette responded through a statement published on their social media; both rejected the accusations and questioned whether Suzette had formally received a lawsuit.
What did Selena's mother say about A.B. Quintanilla's lawsuit?
Marcella Quintanilla decided to speak out in a statement because, as she explained along with Suzette, A.B.'s statements contain "serious and false insinuations" that affect the family's reputation.
Selena's mother made it clear that she normally prefers to keep family matters private, but she felt it necessary to respond to what she described as accusations that cannot go unanswered.
"A.B. claims that there is a lawsuit related to Suzette and that a legal process began several months ago. Suzette has never been formally notified of any lawsuit (...) therefore, we ask a simple question: What lawsuit? Where was it filed? What is the case number?", they expressed in the statement released on Suzette Quintanilla's Instagram.
Marcella and Suzette also pointed out that they do not seek to attack or humiliate A.B., however, they stated that their silence should not be interpreted as acceptance of the allegations.
"A.B. also repeatedly refers to ‘years’ of family circumstances, ‘facts’ and ‘evidence’," they noted. "Those insinuations are false (...) Suzette did not commit any theft. Suzette has not stolen, embezzled, or improperly taken money or assets belonging to A.B., Abraham, Marcella, Chris, Selena's estate, or any family-owned or jointly-owned company," they specified.
What did A.B. Quintanilla respond to his mother and sister?
A.B. Quintanilla responded directly to the statement from his mother, Marcella, and his sister Suzette, who questioned the existence of the lawsuit. The famous musician denied lying and affirmed that Suzette and her lawyers were indeed notified of the legal documents via certified mail and email.
He explained that the process is related to Suzette's fiduciary duties, that is, legal obligations linked to acting with transparency and for the benefit of the interests she manages.
On the other hand, he claimed that his sister responded, but that she did not provide what he was requesting: contracts, documentation, and financial information. "How low to use my mom for convenience," said A.B. in the message he posted on his Instagram profile.
Finally, he announced that his lawyer will provide a statement on Friday, September 4, with the promise that "many things will be clarified."
