Marco Chacón, husband of Maribel Guardia, sparked controversy after revealing that he was hospitalized for five days due to a health problem that, according to his statement, was allegedly related to a substance placed in the protein he was consuming. Chacón's words reignited versions of an alleged poisoning attempt that has been publicly linked to Imelda Tuñón, widow of Julián Figueroa.
During an interview covered by Despierta América, Maribel and Marco were questioned directly by the media about the alleged poisoning. Faced with the journalists' question, the actress said: "I am not going to talk about that."
For his part, when a journalist asked Chacón: "Marco, did they attempt on your life?", he replied emphatically: "I was in a hospital for five days as a result of a substance that they were placing in my protein, and we cannot talk about that with precision."
Chacón avoided giving details about the circumstances of the episode and did not publicly identify the substance he referred to. It is important to note that although his statements confirmed that he suffered a health problem and was hospitalized, they do not constitute proof that he was a victim of poisoning, nor do they allow for holding any particular person responsible.
On the other hand, Marco Chacón's confession does represent a new chapter in a controversy involving the actress's family and Imelda Tuñón, widow of Julián Figueroa.
When was Marco Chacón hospitalized?
Marco Chacón stated that he remained hospitalized for five days in August 2023. According to his previous statements, he was admitted to the Hospital Ángeles de Acoxpa, in Mexico City, on August 15 of that year.
At the time, the lawyer noted that there is a medical file that corroborates his hospitalization. However, no evidence has been publicly released that confirms the adulteration of the protein or identifies a responsible person.
However, on social media, users have pointed to Imelda Tuñón as the likely person responsible for what happened to Maribel's partner: "The truth always comes to light, sooner or later" and "If she gave medication to Julián, perhaps she could have done it with Chacón too," were some of the reactions.
