Gilberto Mora has caught the attention of Peru ahead of their match against Mexico during the FIFA window. The Xolos de Tijuana star is not even 18 years old yet and has already scored his first goal with the Mexican National Team, in addition to attracting interest from several European clubs.
Ahead of the match against Mexico, the coach of the Peruvian national team, Brazilian Mano Menezes, emphasized Mora's talent and assured that they will be careful with the midfielder.

Mano Menezes praises Gilberto Mora before Mexico vs. Peru
During the press conference before the match, Menezes gave his opinion on Mora's participation in the 2026 World Cup and highlighted Javier Aguirre's decision to place him in his lineup since the opening match, as he considered it no simple task. Furthermore, he noted that the player wearing number 10 has great talent.
"I was at the World Cup opening match when Mexico played against South Africa and I carefully watched how their coach, Javier Aguirre, started him. For an opening match, it's difficult, but Gilberto Mora is showing that he is a great talent of Mexican soccer," he said.
Menezes also revealed that he has closely followed Mora's career because he believes it is difficult for players of his quality to appear in soccer.
"We follow him with pleasure because it is difficult for new players of that quality to appear in soccer, and they do appear."
Additionally, he assured that they will be careful with Mora during the game to prevent him from standing out as he did against Colombia, where he scored the goal that gave Mexico the draw.
"So, we are going to share the pitch with him tomorrow and we will do so with great care so that he does not stand out against the others."
Peruvian press warns about the talent of Gilberto Mora
Depor.com, a Peruvian media outlet, also highlighted Gilberto Mora's talent and noted that it is not just about his ability to score goals, but also his way of playing and the understanding he has with his teammates on the field.
"Mora is making a big difference, not only because of the goal, eh. Not only because of the high-quality goal, but he is a player who disrupts you, is daring, associates with his teammates; this Mexican gem is impressive, they have to bring him along slowly, of course. He already has a World Cup under his belt."
They also pointed out that the Xolos de Tijuana player is skillful and that not even the physical presence of the Colombians helped them stop him. Therefore, they considered that it would be difficult for the Peruvian national team to face him.
"It is going to be very difficult for them to stop Mora because he is a very skillful player. Look, imagine, the Colombians having more physicality, more bulk, could not handle Mora; imagine, Peru, which does not have many physical conditions, it will be more difficult for them."
