NFL Mexico and the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra announced this Tuesday a gala concert to kick off the celebrations leading up to the centennial of college football, which dates back to 1927 in this country.
The concert will be held next Saturday at the Sala Nezahualcóyotl, in the south of the capital, and will be under the baton of Mexican conductor Enrique Diemecke and pianist Jorge Federico Osorio.

"It is an honor to join an institution that has been a pioneer and trainer of American football in our country for almost a century. Alongside UNAM, we seek to generate a positive and lasting impact on the community, strengthening ties between sports and Mexico's invaluable cultural heritage," stated Arturo Olivé, director general of NFL Mexico.
This encounter also coincides with the 90th anniversary of the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra and the 50th anniversary of the host venue, an acoustic and architectural benchmark in Latin America.
"For NFL Mexico, this concert represents a way to celebrate and thank the Mexican community through experiences for the whole family. The initiative seeks to unite different generations and tastes, so that both American football fans and music lovers find a reason to celebrate together," added Olivé.
The program, titled 'From Mozart to the Passion of the Game,' seeks to build a sonic bridge between symphonic tradition and sporting energy.
The performance will start with the Overture to The Magic Flute, K.620, and the Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K.467, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
It will continue with the contemporary piece 'Ínguesu' by Mexican musician Enrico Chapela, a work inspired by the adrenaline of a sporting contest, and will conclude with 'Die Sir E,' composed by Enrique Diemecke.
"This collaboration marks another step in NFL Mexico's commitment to connecting with the country's identity and cultural richness. Thus, the league transcends the sporting realm to integrate closely with the community, promoting experiences where music, history, and family togetherness meet," the NFL Mexico statement emphasized.
