Ronaldinho, a legend of Brazilian soccer, will try at 46 years old to score "a 300th goal" with Ravenna, an ambitious 3rd division Italian club where he is making his unexpected return to the pitch, the former FC Barcelona player explained this Thursday.
"I am very happy to be here with friends, we have a team to do something good," declared the 2005 Ballon d'Or winner during his official presentation on a beach in Ravenna (northeast), at a press conference reserved for a few media outlets chosen by the club and the player's entourage.
"Will you see me play? I don't know, only the coach knows. Returning to Italy is beautiful, I am here to help my teammates win," continued Ronaldinho, who arrived on the Adriatic coast by private jet at midday, according to statements reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
"As you can see, I am in shape, I feel good (...). If I could score my 300th goal, it would be even nicer," added the former Paris SG (2001-03), FC Barcelona (2003-08), and AC Milan (2008-11) player.
Ronaldinho, crowned world champion with Brazil in 2002 and capped 97 times (33 goals) with the Seleção shirt, played his last official match in September 2015 with the Brazilian club Fluminense.
At the end of a long ceremony, Ronaldinho, wearing a white cap and sporting huge sunglasses, ended up going on stage to greet his new teammates and pose alongside his directors with a white jersey with his name and the number 10.
He is scheduled to participate in a training session open to the public on Friday.
Ravenna finished in 3rd place in Group B of the last Third Division championship and aspires to return to Serie B, in which it has not competed since 2008.
