Celebrations for the Mexican Independence are already set in several of the cities with the largest Mexican presence in the United States. Parades, El Grito ceremonies, cultural festivals, live music, gastronomy, and folk performances will be part of the activities scheduled around September 15th and 16th, 2026.
From California to Texas and Illinois, thousands of people will participate in events that recognize Mexican heritage and the contributions of the Latino community. These are some of the most important festivities confirmed for the 2026 Fiestas Patrias.
Los Angeles: East LA Day Parade & Festival
Los Angeles is home to one of the oldest and largest Mexican celebrations in the United States. The 80th East Los Angeles Mexican Independence Day Parade and Festival will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, on César E. Chávez Avenue.
The parade is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., while the festival will continue throughout the afternoon with live music, folk dances, Mexican food, and family activities.
The organizers highlight that it is the largest and most traditional Mexican Independence Day parade in the United States, carried out with the support of the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles and local authorities.
Chicago: El Grito and the Little Village parade
Chicago will celebrate the Fiestas Patrias with several events led by El Grito Chicago, a festival that will take place on September 12 and 13, 2026, in Grant Park.
The celebration will include performances by local and international artists, mariachi, folk ballet, children's activities, a Mexican market, and a wide range of gastronomic offerings.
In addition, the traditional 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade will take place on Sunday, September 13, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., traveling through the iconic Little Village neighborhood. The parade is considered one of the largest in the U.S. Midwest.
The festivities will continue throughout the week of September 15 and 16 with cultural activities at different points in the city.
Houston: Fiestas Patrias International Parade
In Houston, the main celebration will be the 53rd Annual Fiestas Patrias International Parade, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the city center.
The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. and will bring together floats, mariachis, folk groups, school bands, classic vehicles, and representatives of various Latin American communities.
The event seeks to commemorate the independence celebrations of various Latin American countries, including Mexico, and promote the unity of Hispanic communities in the metropolitan area.
As part of the patriotic festivities in the region, Traders Village Houston also announced a special Fiestas Patrias day for September 13, with cultural shows and family entertainment.
Dallas: Viva Dallas 2026
The city of Dallas will celebrate the official Viva Dallas 2026 festival on Saturday, September 12, at Dallas City Hall Plaza.
The free event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will include a parade or procession at 6:00 p.m., followed by the official Grito de Independencia ceremony at 7:00 p.m.
Attendees will be able to enjoy mariachis, bands, crafts, Mexican food, drinks, and cultural activities that will also mark the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month in the city.
