October has begun and hundreds of parents and students are wondering if there will be days off during this month and on what dates; below we share when there will be no classes in October and the long weekends that are marked on the calendar of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP). Take note!
Only three months are left until 2026 ends, and for many, the best season of the year is beginning, as several celebrations like Halloween, Day of the Dead, and Christmas are approaching, which are some of people's favorites.
But before celebrating all these dates, there are still long weekends and days off that the SEP established for its students and teachers, so it is important to mark the dates on the calendar so that you don't miss any and can plan a well-deserved vacation.
Will there be long weekends in October 2026?
For workers, there is no official long weekend since the Federal Labor Law establishes mandatory days off, and there is no suspension of work during that month.
But in the case of students, the situation changes, as they will have a "mega" long weekend that will begin in October.
On which day will there be no classes in October 2026?
On Friday, October 30, 2026, there will be no classes in schools because the date corresponds to one of the ordinary sessions of the School Technical Council (CTE) contemplated in the 2026-2027 school calendar of the SEP.
Therefore, preschool, elementary, and middle school children and adolescents will have a day without classes on Friday, October 30.
When is the October 2026 long weekend?
Yes, because classes are suspended on Friday, October 30, and resume on Tuesday, November 3, since Monday, November 2, is marked as a day of suspension of teaching work. With this, millions of students will have a long weekend.
When do December vacations start?
Although October will not have that many vacations, families can already mark the next long break period on the calendar. According to the 2026-2027 school calendar, winter vacation will begin on December 21, 2026, and end on January 5, 2027, with a return to classes on January 7.
