Can you collect the IMSS Pension and the Bienestar Pension at the same time?
Yes, a person can receive an IMSS pension and also be a beneficiary of the Pension for the Well-being of Older Adults, provided they meet the requirements of this program.
Currently, many IMSS and ISSSTE pensioners also receive the bimonthly payment provided by the government through the Pension for the Well-being of Older Adults.
How much does a person who collects the IMSS and Bienestar Pension receive in 2026?
The Pension for the Well-being of Older Adults provides the support established by the Government of Mexico, which in 2026 is 6,400 pesos.
On the other hand, the amount an IMSS pensioner receives depends on their plan, total weeks of contributions, base salary, and pension modality, among other factors.
What requirements are needed to receive the Bienestar Pension?
To join the Bienestar Pension, one must:
- Tener 65 años o más
- Ser mexicano por nacimiento o naturalización
- Residir en México.
What documents are requested for the 2026 Bienestar Pension?
To register, the Ministry of Bienestar requests:
- Acta de nacimiento
- Copia de identificación oficial vigente: INE, pasaporte, cédula profesional, credencial de INAPAM o carta de identidad
- CURP de impresión reciente
- Copia de comprobante de domicilio
- Teléfono de contacto.
Requirements to apply for the IMSS pension in 2026
-For Advanced Age Unemployment: be between 60 and 64 years old.
-For Old Age Pension: be 65 years old.
In both cases you must:
- Estar dado de baja del Régimen Obligatorio del IMSS.
- Contar con las semanas de cotización requeridas.
- Para quienes están bajo la Ley del Seguro Social de 1973, se requieren al menos 500 semanas y haber cotizado antes del 1 de julio de 1997.
- Para quienes están bajo la Ley de 1997, en 2026 se requieren 875 semanas. Este requisito aumenta gradualmente hasta llegar a 1,000 semanas en 2031.
Documents to apply for the IMSS pension
The IMSS indicates that the applicant must present:
- Identificación oficial vigente con fotografía y firma.
- Comprobante de domicilio con una antigüedad no mayor a 90 días.
- Documento bancario con número de cuenta y CLABE, a nombre de la persona que recibirá la pensión. La cuenta debe permitir recibir el depósito de la pensión.
- Acta de nacimiento, acta de adopción o reconocimiento. Se puede presentar el documento original, copia certificada o la impresión del formato oficial obtenido en línea, sujeto a validación.
