A powerful winter storm in the United States and Canada, associated with Arctic air and a polar vortex, is already beginning to have direct impacts on Mexico, mainly in the north, northeast, and center of the country, according to federal authorities.
The National Coordination of Civil Protection (CNPC) issued an alert for severe winter weather, derived from the interaction of the Third Winter Storm, Cold Front 31, an Arctic air mass, and an atmospheric river.

In mountainous areas of Chihuahua, temperatures as low as -20 °C are expected, while in the Gulf of Mexico, there will be an intense 'Norte' event with high waves.
