On social media and in some headlines of foreign press, a conspiracy theory has become a topic of conversation that the United States government is allegedly contaminating the skies and secretly modifying the climate. Is it true? Below, we tell you what is known.
According to recent reports from media such as the Daily Mail, top-secret CIA files detail how the United States has been carrying out strategies to control the world through the climate.
Alleged leaks of information that have been circulating since 2003 claim that the U.S. government has been using airplanes and rockets for years to pour chemicals into the atmosphere that alter the climate and storm systems... since 1965!
Currently, said contamination is allegedly becoming one of the main weapons of war. Conspiracy theorists claim that something like this happened in 1965 and 1967. During the Vietnam War, the United States allegedly used toxins in the environment to cause storms, floods, and landslides in the areas to gain an advantage in the conflict.

Along with these secret CIA files, it is claimed that there is a letter from former U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson where he praised the operation over Vietnam, and it is even claimed that he oversaw two projects designed to manipulate the climate called Stormfury and Popeye.
In 1965, Stormfury flew over the skies to seed powerful hurricanes with a freezing agent called silver iodide to alter the storms. The former president's letter notes that this project manipulated a hurricane in Florida to strike Louisiana as a Category 4.
Regarding what happened in Vietnam, the letter reportedly claims that Project Popeye was used to affect enemy supply lines by prolonging the monsoon season. CIA officials explained this at the time.
On several occasions, and taking these CIA documents as a reference, the government has stated that it uses techniques to modify the climate, but claiming that it has been done solely to weaken dangerous storms or induce rain in high-drought areas.
However, theories claim that they continue to be used for the benefit of the United States in geopolitical conflicts and to intentionally affect people in different parts of the world.
Recently, it has been said that the projects are used to launch chemtrails, which are white trails that come from planes flying at high altitudes to release "poison that falls on your family, your water, your lungs," the Daily cites.
Explanations given by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy and environmental researcher Dane Washington point out that said trails contain chemicals, toxins, and metals such as aluminum, barium, strontium, and mercury.
Some of the elements contained in the trails can generate, together or separately, health problems such as headaches, fatigue, abdominal pain, neurological damage, kidney problems, and child development issues, in addition to severe poisoning, they claim.
