The White House once again prevented a CNN crew from traveling with the President of the United States, , aboard the presidential aircraft Air Force One, amidst the Republican's offensive against certain critical media outlets.

CNN was assigned to cover the president's campaign trip to North Carolina in accordance with the rotation system among the country's major networks to form the small group of journalists that accompanies the president, known as the 'pool,' but the White House prevented them from participating.

In a statement, the network denounced that this exclusion breaks with a "decades-long tradition" and warned that it will take legal action if the White House "continues to prevent" its news teams from covering the president's activities.

"These attempts to retaliate against and discriminate against CNN based on the content of its news coverage are wrong, counterproductive, and illegal," wrote Ted Boutrous, external legal counsel for CNN, in a letter addressed to the Department of Justice.

In September, Trump tried to block journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from accessing the White House complex, dissatisfied with the coverage of his Administration and after accusing them of spreading "fake news."

The three media outlets filed a lawsuit in which they alleged that the government was violating the First Amendment of the Constitution, which protects freedom of the press.

A federal judge ordered their access to the complex to be restored, a measure that went into effect, although the White House continues to exclude CNN from the president's trips.
