Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is taking the reins of ('The Batman Part II'), replacing Matt Reeves, who has had to temporarily leave the film's direction due to a family issue, according to the specialized media outlet Variety.

"Given that Matt Reeves is still attending to a family matter, Steven Soderbergh—who admires Matt's work—has reached out to him and, with the full backing of DC Studios, will step in to help the writer-director complete the final weeks of principal photography on 'The Batman 2' ('The Batman Part II')," said a studio representative in a statement reported by the media.

"Matt and Steven will work in close collaboration with the cast and crew to bring Matt's vision for the film to life," the note adds. 'The Batman 2' ('The Batman Part II') is scheduled for release on February 18.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Soderbergh, director of 'Ocean’s Eleven', 'Magic Mike', and 'Traffic', offered his help to Reeves.

"To be clear: I am not leaving 'The Batman 2' ('The Batman Part II'). I am deeply grateful to Steven for stepping in to help me during this difficult time to support me in finishing principal photography. Thank you all for your concern and good wishes," wrote Reeves himself on the social network X after the news of the temporary replacement became known.

"Matt Reeves' work on 'The Batman 2' ('The Batman Part II') was impressive; intentional, specific, and coherent," noted Soderbergh in a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter. "The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate material that integrates seamlessly with what has already been shot, so that Matt can finish his film properly," he added.

'The Batman 2' ('The Batman Part II'), which already has about two-thirds of filming completed, stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The cast is rounded out by actors such as Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, and Andy Serkis.
