Robert Kraft responds to Macklemore and announces a $2 million donation to Gaza

Tycoon Robert Kraft said this Wednesday that he will donate two million dollars for the "humanitarian crisis" in Gaza, after having blacklisted rapper Macklemore for his pro-Palestinian messages during Ed Sheeran's tour.

Macklemore denounced on Monday that he had been excluded from Sheeran's tour for having made comments in favor of Palestine on September 4 and 5 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey when he was opening for Sheeran's show.

The rapper also accused Kraft, the owner of a stadium in Massachusetts, of urging other stadium owners to boycott him.

Amid the controversy, the rapper announced today that he was donating one million dollars of his earnings from participating in Sheeran's US tour to organizations supporting the Palestinian people, and challenged Kraft to allocate the same amount to humanitarian aid.

Kraft, in a message on social media, replied that before Macklemore challenged him to match his donation, Sheeran had asked him to donate 2 million "to help in the region to fight against this humanitarian crisis," implying that he would do so.

"Ed now plans to contact other venue owners and our goal is to continue working together to build bridges," noted the tycoon, who asserted that he "deeply believes that all lives deserve to be protected" and expressed himself in favor of the Palestinian people.

"I would like people who are speaking out in support of the Palestinian people to know that for decades I have supported efforts that create opportunities for Palestinians and I have brought together young Palestinians and Israelis to build businesses, create jobs, and forge relationships," he detailed.

Sheeran explained in a statement that several stadium owners, including Kraft, threatened to cancel his concerts if Macklemore remained his opening act, and stated that he preferred to remain neutral on political issues, something that has been criticized by some of his followers.

Shortly after, Irish artists Aaron Rowe and Beoga, the Danish band Lukas Graham, and the producer and musician Finneas Eilish, brother of singer Billie Eilish, announced their withdrawal from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore and the Palestinian people.
