The phenomenon 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, became the highest-grossing film in United States history this week.

According to data from Variety, Holland's film has grossed $936.773 million at the U.S. box office since its release on July 30.
The film knocked 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' from the top spot, where it had remained for more than a decade with $936 million in box office revenue.

"From a galaxy far, far away, everyone at Lucasfilm offers huge congratulations (...) to the entire team behind 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' for setting a new U.S. box office record and taking the crown from Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the production company founded by George Lucas stated in a social media post.
The film has not stopped breaking records since its release: three weeks into its theatrical run, it became the fastest film to surpass the $700 million mark at the U.S. box office.
It also managed to reach the milestone for the highest opening week gross in U.S. box office history and is the second fastest film to reach one billion dollars worldwide (after 'Avengers: Endgame').
Starring Tom Holland as the iconic Marvel hero, the feature film is now ranked tenth on the list of the highest-grossing films internationally.
