Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández will play for Manchester City, after the Citizens reached an agreement with Chelsea this Tuesday, the final day of the European soccer transfer window, according to British press reports.
The transfer of the 25-year-old Argentina international would amount to £125 million (€145 million or $167 million), according to news reports.

If that amount is confirmed, it would match the record for the most expensive signing in the Premier League, established a year ago by Swede Alexander Isak with his move from Newcastle to Liverpool.
Pending the official announcement, Fernández's arrival at the Etihad Stadium will bolster the reconstruction of the midfield in the new City era following the departure of Spanish coach Pep Guardiola.
The Manchester club has recently added figures such as Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi in this market, for similarly astronomical sums, following the departures of Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Nico González, and Tijjani Reijnders.
Fernández will report to Enzo Maresca, with whom he overlapped at Chelsea.
The Italian coach was hired in June with the difficult mission of making people forget about Guardiola, who left the Sky Blues' bench after a prodigious decade.
The Argentine, one of Chelsea's vice-captains, joined the London team in January 2023 and participated in the Blues' titles in the Conference League and the Club World Cup in 2025.
With Argentina, Enzo was a World Cup champion in 2022 and a Copa América champion in 2024.
He was in the Albiceleste's World Cup final this year against Spain, in which he was sent off before his team lost in extra time 1-0.
The soap opera regarding whether or not Enzo would leave his current club was one of the most talked-about topics in the European market in recent months.
Chelsea even suspended him for two matches at the end of last season for raising doubts about his future with the team.
In a preseason friendly against Real Sociedad in mid-August, Enzo was booed by a section of the Stamford Bridge crowd, who reproached him for his desire to leave the organization.
Manager Xabi Alonso did not include him in his squad for the last two Blues matches, won against Luton in the League Cup and against Brighton in the Premier League.
