Gilberto Mora is one of the rising young stars of the Mexican National Team and fans don't want to miss his appearances with El Tri. However, the footballer is a doubt for the next match against the United States due to a health issue. Will he play on Saturday? This is what is known.
Why might Gilberto Mora miss Mexico vs. United States?
Journalists Gibrán Araige and Mauricio Ymay, from TUDN, revealed that the Xolos de Tijuana player could miss the match between Mexico and the United States due to an ankle problem.
Mauricio Ymay explained that Mora aggravated an injury during a training session with the players who did not get minutes in the match against Peru.
“It looks complicated for Gilberto Mora to be able to play against the United States national team. Yesterday he was at training, there at the stadium, with the players who didn't get minutes, and he aggravated an ankle problem,” he noted.
Gibrán Araige added that this Wednesday morning the number 10 was subjected to an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.
Furthermore, he considered it unlikely that Rafa Márquez and his team would decide to risk the midfielder for Saturday's match.
“They are very unlikely to risk him,” he noted.
Rafa Márquez had indicated that Gilberto Mora would play against the United States
During the press conference after the match against Peru, Rafa Márquez explained that he decided not to give Mora minutes due to some discomfort he was experiencing, although he did not go into details.
Additionally, he revealed that he expected Mora to return to the pitch in the next match.
“I would like to have Gil Mora for every match, but the wear and tear, he has some discomfort that we are trying to manage. We already know what Gil can give us, which is why I wanted to give him a rest and see more players. He will surely be in the next one”.
