Armando “La Hormiga” González is stealing the hearts of the Greek fans and capturing all the spotlight, as this Tuesday the Mexican striker scored a brace for Olympiacos against Volos in the second matchday of the Greek Cup league phase, confirming that he is beginning to become an important piece of the attack for the team led by José Luis Mendilibar.
The 23-year-old took advantage of the opportunity given to him by the coach and responded with goals, as he was a starter and participated directly in two goals and one assist.
Armando González's first goal came around the 42nd minute, after a set-piece play. The Volos goalkeeper blocked an initial shot but left the ball in the box, and the "Ant" was alert to finish it and open the scoring.
The second one arrived just as the second half was beginning; González launched himself and connected with a cross to send the ball into the back of the net once again.
Because of this result, the Mexican was given a standing ovation by the fans when he was substituted in the 70th minute.
