Javier Aguirre eliminates days off: Valencia will train Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
One of the first changes that "El Vasco" made after arriving at the Spanish team was to eliminate the rest days of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
According to journalist Álex Silvestre, the 'blanquinegros' were not scheduled to train on the day Aguirre arrived at the locker room. However, it was the coach himself who informed them that they would only rest on Sunday.
"The Valencia locker room was not scheduled to train today. Not today, nor tomorrow, nor the next day. Since it became known that Javier Aguirre was going to arrive today, it was Javier Aguirre himself who said that there is no resting. They are training today, tomorrow, and the next day. They will have Sunday off, but they are going to train Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. They had them off before Aguirre arrived. It is the first thing Aguirre asked for because he wants to work," explained Silvestre.
Silvestre also explained that the players were "stunned" not only by "El Vasco's" message but also by his "energy," as after getting off the plane, the former América player went directly to train.
"Aguirre had been traveling for practically an entire day. He traveled from Mexico, arrived in Madrid, and from Madrid, he went to Valencia. He arrived at the airport and the first thing he did was go to Paterna to train. He didn't even go by the hotel, he didn't go anywhere, straight to training," he detailed.
Javier Aguirre transmits tranquility and confidence to Valencia players
"El Vasco" Aguirre not only arrived to modify Valencia's training sessions but also to transmit a positive attitude, according to Silvestre.
The team was nervous and pressured by their current position; however, Aguirre knew how to transmit "tranquility" and "confidence" to them.
