During an interview, journalist Gerardo Velázquez de León questioned Chicharito about his career and the chapter he had just closed in Mexican soccer after his departure from the 'Rebaño Sagrado'; subsequently, the communicator asked him how he felt seeing players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi still competing in the World Cup, while he was going to play in a lower tier.
“When you see players like Messi, like Modrić, like Cristiano Ronaldo, playing at the level of a World Cup and you are now playing a step lower, what does that make you feel?”, asked the journalist.
Chicharito's response was: “Nothing,” a word he uttered before immediately flashing a smile. The response from the Mexican National Team's top scorer surprised thousands, who applauded his confidence and the serene way in which he responded to a question they labeled as “rude.”
