U.S. President Donald Trump said that he will not attend the Super Bowl this February and that he is "against" singer Bad Bunny and the group Green Day, the artists selected for the halftime show.

"I'm against them. I think it's a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible," Trump said from the Oval Office to The New York Times, in an interview published this Saturday.

However, the Republican president said that the musicians—who are critics of the president—are not the reason he will not attend the game on February 8th at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

"It's too far away. I would like to go. I have been received very well at the Super Bowl. They like me," said Trump, who noted that he would go if it were "a little bit closer."

Trump attended last year's American football final in New Orleans between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny has been openly critical of Trump, especially regarding his anti-immigrant policies.

Likewise, Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, who last week expressed his support for protesters in Minneapolis against immigration raids by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the state.
