What happens when a Mexican citizen is repatriated from the United States? The Government of Mexico has the “México te abraza” program, a strategy that provides care to compatriots returning to the country and facilitates their travel to their communities of origin.
According to information presented by the Government of Mexico, between January 20, 2025, and August 13, 2026, 271,193 Mexican men and women were repatriated. Of these, 171,508 entered the country by land and 99,685 by air.
The strategy has service centers in 14 states to receive repatriated Mexicans and provide them with various services.
What support do repatriated Mexicans receive?
“México te abraza” offers different services to facilitate the return of compatriots to their home communities. These include:
- Alimentos: se han entregado 453 mil 685 raciones.
- Traslados: 200 mil 105 personas fueron trasladadas a sus comunidades de origen.
- Tarjeta Bienestar Paisano: se han entregado 180 mil 042 tarjetas.
- Documentos: se realizaron 138 mil 669 trámites de CURP y actas de nacimiento.
- IMSS: 98 mil 698 personas fueron afiliadas al Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social.
- Llamadas telefónicas: se brindaron 134 mil 371 atenciones.
- Alojamiento: 88 mil 107 personas recibieron hospedaje.
- Atención médica: se registraron 69 mil 191 servicios.
- Tarjetas Finabien: se entregaron 55 mil 573.
- Programas para el Bienestar: hubo 52 mil 197 vinculaciones.
- DIF: se brindaron 22 mil 828 atenciones.
- Empleo: 18 mil 644 personas fueron vinculadas con oportunidades laborales.
- Salud mental: se otorgaron 10 mil 599 atenciones.
- Educación: se realizaron 5 mil 017 trámites educativos.
- CFE: se entregaron 3 mil 665 chips.
- Cultura: se registraron 2 mil 950 atenciones.
In total, “México te abraza” has provided more than 1,567,000 services to Mexicans who returned to the country.
Where are repatriated Mexicans received?
The Government of Mexico reported that there is a territorial deployment in 14 states to receive and assist compatriots.
Mexicans can arrive in the country by land or air. Arrival points also include airports such as the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and other air terminals in the country.
Once they arrive, “México te abraza” locations offer guidance and various services to facilitate their return to their places of origin.
How many Mexicans have been repatriated from the United States?
From January 20, 2025, to August 13, 2026, a total of 271,193 Mexican men and women were repatriated, the National Migration Institute (INM) reported.
Of this figure:
- 171 mil 508 ingresaron por vía terrestre.
- 99 mil 685 llegaron por vía aérea.
- Los ingresos aéreos se realizaron en 816 vuelos y 10 aeropuertos.
The INM also noted that 55% of repatriated Mexicans are originally from Chiapas, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Michoacán, Puebla, and the State of Mexico.
¿What did Claudia Sheinbaum say about “México te abraza”?
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo assured that the program has sufficient resources to assist Mexicans returning to the country.
The president explained that, regardless of whether compatriots arrive by plane or by land, there are “México te abraza” spaces to receive them and help them return to their communities.
“There are sufficient resources to serve our compatriots,” she stated during her morning conference.
The Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, highlighted that the objective of the program is to provide a warm and humane welcome to Mexicans who return.
What is “México te abraza”?
“México te abraza” is a strategy of the Government of Mexico aimed at assisting repatriated Mexicans and facilitating their reintegration into the country.
The program includes services related to food, transportation, documentation, health, housing, employment, and social programs, among others.
With more than 271,000 Mexicans repatriated since January 2025 and over 1.5 million services provided, the Government maintains that the strategy seeks to ensure that compatriots have support during their return to Mexico.
