The Mexican government will soon deposit the first payment of the Bienestar Pension for senior citizens who are beneficiaries of this program. However, these seniors began the year with questions regarding whether they need to renew their Bienestar Bank card to collect the $6,200 peso payment. Here we explain whether this procedure is mandatory and what you would need.

With the arrival of 2026, the Pension for the Well-being of Senior Citizens, one of the Federal Government's social programs, is preparing for a new cycle of disbursements, maintaining the bimonthly support of $6,200 pesos for now, unless an adjustment to the amount is announced.

In recent days, thousands of beneficiaries expressed concern, not knowing if their card has an expiration date, especially if they have been receiving this financial support for several years.

It is not necessary to renew the Bienestar Pension card, as reported by authorities at the time. They specified that both new cards and those used during the previous administration remain valid. 'The cards distributed during the six-year term of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, through which millions of beneficiaries already receive their support, remain valid until their expiration date, and it is not necessary to renew them,' they indicated in a statement.

The general director of the Bienestar Bank, Víctor Lamoyi, explained that both cards are valid and that through them, beneficiaries can withdraw cash at ATMs or tellers at the more than three thousand Bienestar Bank branches.

He also stated that 'officials from the Bienestar Bank do not conduct visits to deliver or renew the plastic cards for social program beneficiaries.'
