The mandatory phone line registration continues in Mexico, requiring millions of users to link their personal data, such as their CURP and biometric information, to their phone number, in accordance with the ordinance from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT).
According to the official calendar, this Monday, August 31, 2026, is the last day for numbers ending in 1. If they are not registered, the lines will be suspended within 72 hours from the deadline.

Regarding the suspension of lines for failure to comply with the requirements, the CRT states: “Once the deadline for each digit has passed, telephone companies will suspend service for those lines that have not been linked within the following 72 hours, and they will only be able to make calls to emergency numbers, citizen services, and their telephone company, as well as receive earthquake alerts.”
Likewise, once phone lines are suspended, users could face complications in using other services linked to the number, such as banking operations, app usage, access to social networks, and even sending WhatsApp messages.

It is worth mentioning that the mandatory phone registration ends on December 31, but this date does not apply to everyone.
If you have not yet registered your line and are unsure when your deadline is, below we provide the CRT calendar so you can link your information before the deadlines and avoid service suspension:

Can I recover my phone line after suspension?
If you missed the registration date and your service was suspended, you should know that you can still recover your line. What you must do is complete the phone registration process with the corresponding telephone company.
How and where do you register your phone line?
Registration of phone lines in Mexico is done directly with the telephone companies, not with the Federal Government. The process consists of associating the cell phone number with the user's name and CURP, so it is necessary to provide proof of identity to complete the linking.
To complete the procedure online, you must enter your carrier's portal, provide your number, and verify your identity with a valid INE card. The process may include photos of both sides of your identification and facial validation using your phone's camera; subsequently, you will be able to register and link your phone line.
If you have trouble accessing your carrier's portal, you can also check the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission's website (https://portal.crt.gob.mx/gestion-de-lineas-telefonicas-moviles), where you can select your company and follow the instructions.
Those who cannot complete the process online have the option to go in person to one of their carrier's service centers with their valid INE card.
