The world of entertainment and politics in Mexico is in mourning. According to a social media post made by Senator Manuel Velasco of the Green Party, the passing of the politician, businessman, and former boxer Jorge Kahwagi at the age of 58 was confirmed.
Velasco, who was a colleague of Kahwagi in the LIX Legislature of San Lázaro, wrote on his social media: “Rest in peace. My friend Jorge Kahwagi Macari. My fraternal and supportive hug to his family.”

In a separate post, Roberto Palazuelos also confirmed the tragic news in an Instagram post, where he wished his friend a “safe journey” and offered his condolences to his family. In said post, the businessman shared a photograph with Kahwagi.
“Fly high, dear Jorge, just as you lived. God bless you always my dear brother, and I join in the pain of Doña Sonja and her sisters Sonja and Layla with much affection in this very hard moment. Jorge Kahwagi Macari, safe journey,” he wrote.

So far, it is not known what happened with the public figure, nor have the reasons for his death been discussed.
It is known that in 2019, a health complication was reported for which he was hospitalized in an emergency; according to reports at the time, he had a perforated gastric ulcer and an infection.
Who was Jorge Kahwagi?
Kahwagi was known in Mexico for his multiple facets in the entertainment, sports, and political scenes.
Originally from Mexico City, with Lebanese descent, Jorge dedicated himself to professional acting, law, boxing, business, and recently politics as a member of the Ecologist Green Party. His father was the businessman Jorge Kahwagi Gastine, who died last March.
He was born on May 28, 1968, which made him 58 years old.
Throughout his life, he had various media moments, such as his participation in Televisa's Big Brother VIP, his successful foray into the World Boxing Council, and on a personal level, Jorge caused long-standing controversy due to his cosmetic procedures, one of them to change the color of his eyes.
