A mariachi band performed the United States national anthem during an NFL game in Chicago and surprised social media users.
The group is Mariachi Herencia de México, which performed last night before the game between the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
According to various media outlets, the performance of The Star-Spangled Banner was part of the Bears' Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
Who are Mariachi Herencia de México?
According to Enstarz Latino and The Latin Times, Mariachi Herencia de México is a group that emerged from the Mariachi Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization that teaches mariachi music to Mexican-American youth in Chicago public schools.
With their first studio album, Nuestra Herencia, released in 2017, the group won their first Latin Grammy.
Subsequently, in 2018, they released Herencia de la Tierra Mía, and in 2025, Viva La Música.
They currently have two Latin Grammys and more than 40 performances scheduled in the United States and Canada.

Another joked that 'they should have played El Mariachi Loco in honor of the POTUS'.
