Mexico is searching for Francisco 'N', son of Ramón Ángel 'N', 'El R1', as the possible mastermind behind the femicide of content creator , who was murdered while live-streaming on social media, Secretary of Security Omar García Harfuch reported this Friday.

The head of the Secretariat of Security and Civilian Protection (SSPC) explained at the presidential press conference that the information obtained following the arrest of 'R1' is being added to the case file and that the Prosecutor's Office will provide details as the investigations progress.

The official stated that the detainee's son had a romantic relationship with Márquez and that he had threatened her several times before her femicide.

“Everything indicates, and this will be proven, that the son asked his father, 'El R1', to commit the femicide,” declared García Harfuch.

The secretary specified that the son remains at large and added that they already have leads for his search and localization.

“He is free and we are searching for him,” he maintained.

García Harfuch added that the capture of 'R1' this Thursday provided leads to locate the son, who, he said, had a role in the homicide.

He also clarified that this investigation is separate from the one open for the murder of the former mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, a case for which 'R1' was arrested, but he pointed out that the capture provided new evidence regarding the death of Márquez.

Valeria Márquez, 23, was murdered on May 13, 2025, inside her beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco, in the western part of the country, while she was conducting a live broadcast.

The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office opened the investigation under the femicide protocol in this case.

Ramón Ángel 'N' was arrested yesterday in a town in Jalisco during a federal operation and is identified as a leader of 'los R', a faction linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), and is being investigated as the alleged mastermind of the homicide of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo.

According to the new line of investigation, R1 allegedly acted on his son's request to order the attack against Márquez.

The criminal responsibility of both must be proven by the Prosecutor's Office and decided by a judge.

In Mexico, femicide claims the lives of 10 women every day on average. EFE
