The Democratic opposition needs to snatch three seats in the House of Representatives and four in the Senate from the Republicans to take control of Congress in this Tuesday's midterm elections.
The elections have become, in practice, a referendum on the administration of President Donald Trump and will determine the composition of Congress during his last two years in the White House.
According to the poll aggregator Decision Desk HQ, Democrats have an 84% chance of winning control of the Lower House and a 64% chance of taking the Senate from Trump's party.

Approximately one-third of the 100 Senate seats are also up for renewal. To win the majority, Democrats need to retain those they are defending, especially in Michigan, where the race is tight, and take four of the six seats from Republicans that are considered the most contested: Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Ohio, and Texas.

Despite the Democratic wave anticipated by many polls, analysts warn that surveys have tended to underestimate the mobilization of the Trumpist electorate. EFE
