The Law of Time Zones in the United Mexican States establishes that the seasonal border time ends at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of November. In 2026, that date is November 1.
This allows for better citizen mobility and coordination of activities between both sides of Mexico and the United States.
Is the clock set forward or backward in November?
In the 2026 winter time, the clock is set back one hour. The change will occur at 2:00 a.m. on November 1 in the areas of Mexico where seasonal time applies.
Which states and municipalities change their time?
Seasonal time applies to the northern border of Mexico. The law establishes that it includes the entire state of Baja California and certain municipalities in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas.

Do Mexico City and the State of Mexico change their time?
No. Since 2022, seasonal time no longer applies in Mexico City or the State of Mexico. The exception corresponds to the northern border zones contemplated by law.
Therefore, residents of Mexico City and the State of Mexico will not have to change their clocks on November 1.
Does the cell phone change the time automatically?
Yes, provided that the device has automatic date, time, and time zone functions enabled and has access to an Internet network.

When does the time change in the United States?
In the United States, daylight saving time will end on November 1, 2026. At 2:00 a.m., clocks will be set back one hour in areas where the change applies.
Daylight saving time does not apply in Hawaii or most of Arizona. However, the Navajo Nation does observe the time change.
US territories such as Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands do not observe this change either.
Does Sonora change its time in 2026?
No. The time change does not apply in Sonora, as it is part of the Pacific Zone.
Likewise, Baja California Sur and Sinaloa also do not observe a time change.
