A security camera in India captured the moment a monkey attacked a 91-year-old woman, who died the following day after being seriously injured.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the woman, identified as Najamunnisa Begum, wife of renowned writer M. S. Savadatti, walking through the courtyard of her home, located in the Koppal district in Karnataka, after hearing a noise.
The footage shows the moment a monkey lunges at her, causing her to fall hard on her back to the ground.
Seconds later, her daughter sees the scene and rushes to help her. However, the monkey also tries to attack her before jumping over a garden wall and moving away.

According to reports, Najamunnisa Begum suffered a “head injury,” for which she was taken to a private hospital to receive medical attention.
Although she initially responded to treatment, her health condition deteriorated in the hours that followed, and she passed away the next day.
Local media point out that residents have asked authorities to implement measures to control the presence of monkeys in residential areas and prevent similar incidents from occurring.
The death of Najamunnisa Begum follows that of two other women who died in the country in recent weeks, also due to encounters with monkeys.
