A content creator, a job he balanced with the trade of preparing and serving tacos, was shot to death, allegedly by two individuals, while working at a food business in the city of Ciudad Obregón in the Mexican state of Sonora, in the northwest of the country, state authorities reported.
According to local media, the content creator was known on social media as 'El Piturris' and went by the name José Luis Esparza, who was shot to death while working at a taco shop in the Reforma neighborhood in Ciudad Obregón.
In a statement, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) reported that it was investigating a homicide by firearm projectile against a taco vendor in the aforementioned city.
It noted that according to initial data, the 37-year-old victim "was attacked while tending to the taco shop by an individual who subsequently fled on a motorcycle along with another person."
At the scene, the institution explained, two .40 caliber shell casings were collected as part of the evidence that will be analyzed.
According to accounts, while the man was working at his family's business, an individual approached, located José Luis, and fired at him; after the attack, the assailant escaped the scene on a motorcycle driven by another person.
After the attack, the victim was treated by paramedics and transported to a nearby hospital, where he later lost his life.
Esparza was a content creator who humorously narrated his trade as a taco vendor, his popular knowledge of Sonoran culture, and had some 90,000 followers on social media platforms Instagram and Facebook; he also broadcasted a podcast.
The FGJES stated that it was keeping the investigation open in relation to the events recorded at a taco shop located in the Reforma neighborhood, where a taco vendor lost his life after being attacked with firearm projectiles.
It also said it is awaiting the field work of expert services agents, the results of the autopsy, and the analysis of the ballistic elements found at the scene, this with the purpose of "establishing the circumstances of the event and determining what other matters the homicide could be related to."
On August 5, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured that authorities will seek to arrest both the material authors and the masterminds behind the murder of content creator César Gastélum during a live broadcast, which occurred a day earlier in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
