Sandra Cuevas wants police officers in Mexico like the ones in Spain, or at least that is what she has asked of Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). What did she say and what did she ask for? Here are all the details.
During her trip through Spain and France, Cuevas spoke about how she saw the European police officers and compared them to the Mexican ones. Given this, she pointed out that certain changes should be made in Mexico, such as improving their physical condition.
“I was surprised by the Spanish police officers. You don't know what a thing,” said the former mayor of Cuauhtémoc on her social media. She added that the authorities in that country had a more striking appearance and could easily pass for models.
Among these comments, Sandra compared the image of the Spaniards with the Mexican police and asked Harfuch to put them on a better diet and make them exercise to improve their physical appearance: “We have to put all our fellow police officers in Mexico City and the entire country on a diet because we are being beaten by other countries,” she said while laughing.
“You arrive, you see the police in Spain and they look like models. What happened there?” the public official compared. In addition to these comments, she addressed Omar García Harfuch to ask him to get the uniformed officers into the gym to lift weights: “What happened there, dear Omar García Harfuch? We have to get our guys to exercise.”
Following her comments, Cuevas asked Mexicans not to get angry about the comparisons and said she was satisfied with “what is national”.
In addition to talking about the Spanish police, the 40-year-old politician also praised the physique of the French uniformed officers, noting that they are quite attractive, even more so than the Spaniards, but above all, she preferred the Mexicans.
Sandra Cuevas is in Europe to pursue her studies in communication and journalism. As she shared on her X account, she began her academic preparation on October 5 in Madrid, which will help her in her business projects and subsequently in her candidacy for the head of government of Mexico City.
In her first few days in Europe, in addition to talking about the police, Cuevas referred to the protests happening in Spain and highlighted that all the ones she saw are “peaceful, yet firm sit-ins and marches, against corrupt and miserable governments that are drowning them” and highlighted that the young Spaniards fighting for their rights are “a great example for the world”.
For her part, in France, she highlighted that the youth are taking the “reins of the world” and that they are also an example for all nations.
