Harry and Meghan returned to the United Kingdom, but their hearts remain in California, or at least that is how it seems. Amid rumors that they would be returning to the United States soon, a source close to them revealed the couple's plans for the end of the year.
According to reports, Meghan Markle is already making plans to return to her home in Montecito, California, during the holiday season; it is said that this is because her family will not be spending the holidays in Sandringham with the rest of the royal family, as they have apparently not been invited.
People magazine cites a source claiming that the Duchess of Sussex misses her mother, Doria Ragland, and her friends in Montecito, so she hopes to reunite with them during the celebrations; Harry and their children would also join the trip.
“She misses her home and her mother. They plan to return for the holidays. Meghan is looking forward to seeing her friends and is already making plans with them,” the informant revealed.

The Duchess's priority, however, remains the well-being of her children, 7-year-old Prince Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet. According to the source, both have adapted well to their new home and school, which has helped Meghan navigate this major family transition. The couple returned to Great Britain in August but maintains their residence in Montecito, California.
According to information published by People, the couple plans to spend Christmas and Thanksgiving with Doria Ragland, although the location of the celebrations will depend on their preferences.
These plans point to a festive season far from the traditional British royal family gathering in Sandringham, where King Charles usually hosts his relatives. A source cited by The Sunday Times stated that Harry and Meghan do not expect an invitation and know that a reunion would be complicated.
These claims were made days after another source told The Mirror that the couple plans to return to California in a few weeks, nearly two months after settling into a private property in the United Kingdom.
The source said the Duke and Duchess have no hope of being included in the Christmas festivities, as the King would not be convinced about bringing his two sons together amidst the ongoing dispute between them.
“There is a hierarchy. And the King is the one who rules. He is the boss, his word is final, so it is better not to put oneself in a difficult situation,” the informant noted.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not celebrated Christmas with the royal family since 2018, when Meghan, then pregnant with Archie, accompanied Harry to the traditional Christmas service alongside Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and Kate Middleton. In 2020, the couple stepped back from their roles as working royals and moved to California; Lilibet was born the following year.
Although Harry has met with his father in recent months, his relationship with William remains marked by distance. “There has been no movement, especially from William,” People magazine previously cited.
