“And you’re going to be left wanting more, little ones...!” Banda el Recodo starred in an unexpected moment during their stay in London, England, after being ushered away by local police. What happened? We’ll give you the details below.
The "mother of all bands" attempted a street performance in the vicinity of Tower Bridge when London police asked them to stop playing and leave the area. According to the group, they wanted to bring Mexican music to one of the city's most iconic landmarks, but “the mission was not accomplished.”
After the first part of their performance, a police officer approached to ask them to leave, even pointing out the path next to the bridge; in the footage, it can also be seen that they had already gathered a fairly large group of spectators who applauded them before they left.
“They did it to us again. The mission was to take our music to one of the most emblematic places in London, but today it couldn't be done (...) We continue looking for the moment and the way to take banda music to the corners of Europe and the world. For today it wasn't possible, but the mission continues,” the group wrote on Instagram.

After the moment went viral on social media, netizens started a debate regarding the respect they should show as tourists in a city that is not used to the stridency of wind instruments, while others expressed their support and pride in seeing one of Mexico's most representative bands abroad, attracting an audience and showcasing their musical culture.
“This type of music is very noisy, it is annoying,” “It’s understandable, different countries, different rules. We like it, but that doesn't mean everyone is going to like it,” “We are proud of you,” “The English are only happy when they drink alcohol, give them a shot of tequila,” “All your fans are proud of you. Always breaking borders for other groups,” users wrote.
Despite the refusal from London authorities, Banda el Recodo did not give up, and the following day they set up with their members and most of their instruments.
In a photograph shared on their Instagram stories, the Sinaloan band was shown playing their instruments on a ferry under the bridge with the Mexican flag in the background. “Like good Mexicans, we keep trying and we don't give up until we succeed,” the image reads.
Meanwhile, in a separate video, with Big Ben in the background, singers Ricky Yocupicio and Geovanni Mondragón performed the song 'Dios bendiga nuestro amor' a cappella, grabbing the attention of passersby.
Banda el Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga is in the middle of a musical tour of Europe, which began on September 18th. The group has nine dates scheduled in cities such as Rome, Dublin, London, Seville, Madrid, Amsterdam, Munich, and Zurich.
