Jorge Kahwagi was one of the most controversial public figures in Mexico, between scandalous romances, political and sporting life, and the controversies he sparked due to his health and alleged cosmetic procedures he underwent to change his image.
Both his face and body changed drastically over the years while he was in the public eye; several of his adjustments were evident and more than one cosmetic procedure was a topic of conversation in the Mexican press.
One of the procedures he underwent was an eye color change, professionally called Newiris, similar to what Ninel Conde had done earlier this year in New York to lighten her eyes. What happened after that surgery?
Back in 2012, TvNotas reported that the businessman, politician, and former boxer had undergone surgery to change his eye color from brown to blue at a specialized clinic in Panama, with the goal of looking “more attractive”.

The Mexican outlet cited a source stating: “Jorge went to Panama to have an operation called Newiris, which consists of changing eye color”.
As a result of the procedure, Kahwagi was left with aftereffects that he had to treat for life, such as chronic dry eyes that required drops; at the time, it was said that one of the long-term complications could be loss of vision, but it was never confirmed that this occurred.
In addition to this, it transpired in the press that he had performed other aesthetic adjustments such as liposuction and Botox, and he allegedly also had a rhinoplasty, got pectoral implants, changed the size of his shoulders, and refined his cheekbones.
Jorge Kahwagi never confirmed the speculations regarding the operations, but TvNotas claimed that he became “addicted” to surgeries between 2010, when he had his nose job, and 2015.
He even appeared at one of his last fights in 2012 with a new image, his face completely changed and his body with more volume.
At the time, between Botox and other facial procedures, his face became noticeably swollen, and it was even said that Jorge found it difficult to recover due to excesses.
Beyond the alleged visits to the operating room for cosmetic surgeries, Kahwagi had medical complications due to a burst ulcer that required emergency surgery in 2019.
