Kaia Gerber, sister of Presley Gerber, had spoken about her brother's drug addiction weeks before his death.
During the promotion of her new series, The Shards, Kaia explained to Vogue how her brother's struggle with drug addiction had affected their entire family.

The actress noted that this led her to become a non-confrontational and self-sufficient person, as she did not want her parents to have two children who needed attention.
“When something like that happens in a family, in a way, it puts us all on the same level. I think that's why I also started to see myself as the one who didn't cause problems and I never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who needed attention.”
Kaia also stated that she was proud that her brother shared his battle with drug addiction publicly, as her parents were very private for most of their lives. Furthermore, she considered that hiding it would only have made Presley feel that they were ashamed of him.
“My parents, for most of our lives, were very, very private and didn't share anything; and now we have this ultimate teacher, my brother, who says: ‘I'm going to show myself to be very human to everyone.’ There is a limit to what you can hide from the world. And trying to silence something just makes the person feel like you are ashamed of them,” she said.
Presley, for his part, had revealed in 2018 that he was very close to his sister and that they traveled a lot together, which made him feel less lonely.
“We are a very close-knit family, especially my sister and me, so it's definitely great. We can travel together half the time, so that makes the loneliness much less,” Presley told People magazine.
What is known about the death of Presley Gerber?
According to EFE, authorities are investigating the cause of death of 27-year-old Presley Gerber as a “possible overdose.”
The Santa Monica police revealed in a statement that they responded to a call received at 9:35 a.m. regarding a possible overdose. However, when officers arrived, the man had already died.
“So far, there are no indications of foul play,” they stated.
For its part, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office revealed that the report on the cause and manner of Presley's death had been deferred because “additional studies” were requested to determine what happened.
Allie Jenkins, a representative for Cindy Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber, and Kaia Gerber, said in a statement that “the family asks for their privacy to be respected during this very difficult and painful time.”
