Amid the controversy over the alleged process to arrest Fátima Bosch, promoted by businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil, Lupita Jones spoke out on the matter, noting that the Tabasco native's reign was only full of controversy. What did the former Mexican beauty queen say?
In an encounter with the Mexican press, Jones described the new scandal surrounding Bosch as “media opportunism” with only a few months left in her reign: “Leave this girl alone so she can finish her reign. I feel that all of this is media opportunism,” she noted, adding that it is not a topic she wants to opine on, but rather one she has knowledge of.
As she stated, the legal process was initiated last year, following the fight between both figures in Thailand: “My understanding is that this is something Nawat filed last year and now they are bringing it up again. It is like media opportunism.”
And she added: “We are almost at the point where she will finish her reign, and how sad that, instead of being marked by the work she has done with Miss Universe, it is marked by pure scandal.”
In addition to these comments, Lupita Jones lamented that the pageant and its organization have become a vehicle for scandal instead of an opportunity to highlight the social work that beauty queens do around the world.
Why does Nawat Itsaragrisil want to imprison Fátima Bosch?
The scandal between these two figures has returned to be a topic of conversation after the Thai businessman shared on social media that authorities were accelerating a procedure to imprison Fátima for charges related to defamation and the dissemination of false information.
“Fátima Bosch is currently subject to an expedited process for the issuance of an arrest warrant in connection with a case involving defamation, false accusations, and the dissemination of false information, supported by clear evidence,” noted businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil on Instagram.
In the post, a fragment of the alleged judicial file of the case against Fátima Bosch appears, under processing by the Wat Phraya Krai police. Likewise, the businessman shared another post in which he added that no one is above the law, not even the current beauty queen.
“No one is above the law. Stop exploiting others and spreading misleading narratives. Let the truth and the law prevail,” he pointed out.
Fátima Bosch accuses Nawat Itsaragrisil of intimidation attempts
After the revelation of the alleged arrest warrant, the celebrity from Tabasco issued a press release accusing him of gender-based persecution and attempts at intimidation; she also recalled the controversy they starred in together last year where he publicly called her stupid for not working with the tourism promotion that was requested of her.
“Today it is my turn to tell this story; my wish is that tomorrow no woman has to live it. It is deeply concerning that, in the 21st century, a woman can face attempts at intimidation simply for having raised her voice, set boundaries, and demanded to be treated with dignity and respect,” said the beauty queen.
“I do not regret having defended my place that day. Although it continues to have repercussions months later, if there is one thing I want other women to learn from my story, it is this: defending your dignity should never become a cause for fear,” she added.

The dispute between Fátima and Nawat erupted amid the Mexican contestant's participation in the beauty pageant in Thailand in 2025.
At the time, the businessman made comments against Fátima and called her “stupid,” generating endless criticism for attempting to discredit Bosch's work in the pageant and diminish her chances of winning it.
Fátima Bosch, for her part, responded by defending her position and made it clear that she was not willing to remain silent in the face of the accusations.
The exchange between the two divided opinions and turned the conflict into one of the most talked-about topics surrounding the contest, with fans backing the Mexican woman.
