The recent public appearance of Prince Harry, one of his first since returning to the UK, is causing controversy following the statements he made about his mental health and the time he broke away from the royal family to move with his own. What did he say?
During a masterclass he gave, Harry opened up to dozens of people and revealed that he fell into a depression for about two weeks after moving to Canada with Meghan Markle and their son Archie in 2019.

During a conversation about grief and mental health, the Duke of Sussex recalled experiencing extreme burnout after stepping away from the tense environment in which, according to his words, he had lived for 15 or 20 years.
Harry explained that, just days after arriving in Canada, he felt a kind of "adrenaline crash" that affected his ability to function in daily life: "I actually hit a wall of depression for about two weeks and felt like I couldn't function without adrenaline," he recounted during the masterclass titled Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss.

His statements were part of a conversation with attendees focused on how to cope with loss and recognize its emotional effects; the event was held amidst the commemoration of World Mental Health Day.
The younger son of King Charles III described that stage as a confusing experience, as he was accustomed to living under pressure every day as an active member of the British royal family: "It was like I needed stress for the adrenaline to kick in and my brain to work, because I became useless at home," he recalled.
The experience occurred during the transition that led Harry and Meghan to step back from their official duties within the Crown. It is worth remembering that the couple spent Christmas 2019 in Canada and, in January 2020, announced their plans to leave their responsibilities as senior members of the monarchy. Harry described that period as an opportunity to step away from everything and reflect on his life.
During the conversation, the Duke also spoke about the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997, when he was only 12 years old. He recalled that for years he avoided expressing how he felt and would reply, "I'm fine" when asked about his emotional state.
Later on, he found in his military career a way to channel his energy, although he also recalled experiencing panic attacks related to grief that he had never resolved.
Harry explained that, over time, he has sought to transform that experience into motivation to help other people: "Everything I do, everything I dedicate my energy to, I hope my mother feels proud," he stated while speaking about the legacy of Diana and his work on charitable initiatives. He has also shared publicly on other occasions how therapy helped him cope with pain and personal difficulties.
