'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is the third highest-grossing film in history with a global box office total of 2.408 billion dollars after six weeks as the box office leader, according to data from the website Box Office Mojo.
The film is also about to become the highest-grossing movie in North American history—the United States and Canada—where it has grossed 923 million dollars and is hot on the heels of 'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens', the leader with 936 million dollars.
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' has spent six weeks as the undisputed box office leader, although it still has a ways to go to become the highest-grossing movie in history and surpass 'Avengers: Endgame' (2.799 billion dollars) and 'Avatar' (2.923 billion dollars).
This past weekend, Spider-Man, starring Tom Holland and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, added 18 million dollars in the North American market.
'The Odissey' by Christopher Nolan remains in second place at the box office with 1.631 billion dollars in revenue (588 million in North America and 1.042 billion in the rest of the world).
In third place this weekend at the North American box office is 'Coyote vs Acme', which has accumulated 44 million dollars worldwide in its second week.
Also notable are the results of the film 'Insidious: Out of the Further', which has accumulated 139 million dollars in worldwide revenue.
The summer has been one of the best in history for cinema following the box office successes of Spider-Man, 'The Odissey', 'Toy Story 5', 'The Devil Wears Prada 2', and the independent films 'Obsession' and 'Barkrooms'.
