Erling Haaland surprised his millions of followers by saying goodbye to one of his most characteristic and iconic traits: his long blonde mane. The 26-year-old Norwegian striker and Manchester City star showed off his new haircut in a video that has already gone viral on social media.
As he stated, the radical image change marks the beginning of a new chapter: “New season, new look,” the footballer wrote on his social networks, catching the attention of his millions of followers.
In the images, Haaland appears sitting in front of the camera with his signature blonde hair falling over his shoulders. After he covers the lens with his hand and removes it, he shows the result: a very short haircut that completely transformed his image.
The Norwegian national team hero also shared several selfies during the process, including photographs where he appears with short bangs before finally deciding to shave it off. “I don't care about short hair,” he wrote in another post.

Erling documented the entire process in a YouTube blog and explained that he had thought about cutting his hair immediately after the 2026 World Cup, but his multiple commitments, including his trip to Italy where he celebrated his 26th birthday, prevented him from doing so.
With the start of a new season at Manchester City, he decided the time had come for some kind of change.
“I was planning to do it right after the World Cup, but I was so busy, so I didn't. The season starts now, so it's time for a fresh start,” the striker explained in his blog.
In addition to explaining his decision, Haaland said that another Norwegian football icon, Zlatan Ibrahimović, recommended he not cut his hair, as the mane had an aesthetic significance: “Zlatan told me never to cut my hair because my strength is in my hair, so I'm a little nervous.”
The image change was witnessed by his girlfriend, footballer Isabel Haugseng Johansen, who reacted to Haaland's new look by saying: “Oh my God! You look really good... you have a very tough look.”
The player's transformation comes nearly a month after finishing his participation in the 2026 World Cup, where he became a social media sensation for his talent with the ball, but also for his blonde hair always tied in a ponytail and his charisma on and off the spotlight.
