French star Kylian Mbappé assured this Thursday that Les Bleus still have a way to go in the World Cup, following the 2-0 victory over Morocco in the quarterfinals, and that the team cannot afford to relax despite having reached the semifinals.

"We are in the semifinals. There is still a long way to go and we are aware that what awaits us is even tougher than what we have been through, but we are prepared. We are prepared to face everything and watch tomorrow's match to know who we are going to play (in the semifinals)," said Mbappé in statements to the M6 channel.

The French captain highlighted the importance of maintaining concentration after the victory over the Moroccans, a match in which he was substituted in the 77th minute after receiving a knock to his ankle.

"I'm fine, I took a knock, but I'm fine. I think at that moment JP (Jean-Philippe Mateta) was more prepared than me to play the last fifteen minutes, so I came off and he came on. He came on very well, he could have even scored, so it's very positive."

Mbappé, seen with an ice pack on his ankle after the match, explained that France maintains its ambition intact and that the only way to think about relaxing will be after reaching the goal.

"I don't know if it's a mission, I think that's the easiest term to use. I think we are aware that there is only one way to relax, and that is to win. As long as we haven't done that, I don't see why we should relax."

The French captain also referred to the elimination of his friend Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan full-back with whom he shared a dressing room at Paris Saint-Germain, and acknowledged that the situation will be different when both meet again off the pitch.

"I'm here to win and he was also here to win (...) He is a very close friend of mine, but"
