French authorities are investigating a plot in which the alleged ringleader is an 18-year-old already in custody, whose pseudonym was 'Lester Z', and who had among his multiple potential targets the kidnapping of soccer player

According to information revealed this Wednesday by the newspaper Le Parisien, the alleged criminal, identified as Clément L., also had 25 other people in his sights, including businessmen, merchants, and a rapper.

The investigation into Clément L., of French-Swiss origin, began following an attempted assault against a watchmaker in the town of Neuilly-sur-Seine (on the outskirts of Paris).

On April 25, three fake delivery men went to his home with an empty box, but the merchant grew suspicious and did not open the door. Days later, on May 4, the same victim suffered a robbery at his store in which two armed men took eleven luxury watches valued at approximately 150,000 euros.

Clues from that investigation led to the uncovering of the criminal plot involving potential kidnappings and assaults.

Prior to those inquiries, Clément L. was already in pretrial detention for other crimes—including rape and pimping, in addition to being involved in another organized robbery case—and it is suspected that he gave instructions to the outside from prison using platforms like Snapchat, although he denies being the leader of the plot and claims to be only an intermediary.

The suspect was charged for this plot on August 21 and was placed in solitary confinement.

An alleged accomplice was also arrested in August and was released under judicial supervision.
