The Government of Mexico has taken a significant step toward the modernization of immigration procedures. As of November 26, 2025, the Statistical Form for Mexicans (FEM) traveling abroad will be available in a digital version, which will allow you to speed up your process before boarding a flight.
¿Qué es el FEM digital y para qué sirve?
The FEM is a requirement for Mexican citizens leaving the country for abroad. Until now, this document was filled out on paper, but with the new digital format, you will be able to complete it from your cell phone and download the receipt to present it at the airport.
¿Dónde se puede llenar el formato digital?
The form is available on the official website: https://www.inm.gob.mx/fem/.
You can also access it via QR codes placed on signs inside international airports.
¿Qué se busca con el nuevo formato digital?
Agility in the process: Avoid lines and reduce waiting times at the airport.
Automatic data pre-loading: If you have a Llave MX account, your personal information will be filled out automatically. If not, select the option “Start form without Llave MX”.
Convenience: You can complete it from your cell phone, tablet, or computer.
Immediate download: Once filled out, you will be able to download the digital receipt to show before boarding.
¿Qué información solicita el FEM digital?
The form requests the same information as the physical format:
- Nombre completo y datos personales (precargados si usas Llave MX).
- Información del vuelo: aerolínea, número de vuelo.
- Tipo y número de documento de identificación.
- País de destino final.
- Motivo del viaje.
Additionally, if you are traveling with more people to the same destination, the system saves flight information to avoid repeating data entry.
¿El formato físico desaparece?
For now, both formats will be available during a transition period. If you prefer, you can continue filling out the paper form, although the goal is to replace it completely with the digital version.
From January to October 2025, the INM recorded 3.9 million departures, of which 95% were by air. Digitizing this procedure improves the traveler experience.
