Joshua Kushner, brother-in-law of Ivanka Trump, is the co-founder of the venture capital firm Thrive Capital, the company that could lead FIFA president Gianni Infantino's project to open the door to private investment.
Joshua Kushner founded Thrive Capital in 2009 at the age of 24, shortly after graduating from Harvard College and before entering Harvard Business School, with initial capital from his family, one of the United States' real estate dynasties.
The younger brother of Jared Kushner, who is married to Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, and was a former senior advisor to the U.S. president, has maintained a political stance much further removed from his family's Republican circle.
This Tuesday, FIFA confirmed its intention to expand funding for football development to more than 10 billion dollars through FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a new subsidiary owned and controlled by the organization, which will consolidate its commercial and event operations.
Infantino stated that, pending final agreements and required approvals, Thrive is expected to lead the proposed investor group for FIFA Forward Enterprise.
Born on January 12, 1985, in Livingston, New Jersey, Joshua Kushner founded and manages the venture capital firm Thrive Capital, which has backed some of the most prominent startups of the last decade, such as Instagram, Spotify, and OpenAI.
Thrive was valued at 5.3 billion dollars in a 175 million dollar funding round in January 2023; it is estimated that Kushner holds a 66% stake, according to Forbes magazine.
It currently manages around 25 billion dollars in assets.
Among Thrive's investors are Disney CEO Bob Iger and billionaires of the stature of Henry Kravis and Mukesh Ambani.
The youngest son of real estate tycoon Charles Kushner, a Holocaust survivor, also co-founded the health insurance company Oscar Health in 2022, one of his most ambitious projects based on his personal belief that technology can transform healthcare.
On the other hand, in December 2025, OpenAI announced it had acquired a stake in the investment firm Thrive Holdings to accelerate the adoption of enterprise artificial intelligence (AI).
In this regard, Joshua Kushner expressed his "enthusiasm" for integrating OpenAI's models, products, and services "into sectors that we believe have enormous potential to benefit from innovation and technological adoption."
The 41-year-old businessman has a fortune valued at 3.6 billion dollars.
He is married to the 33-year-old American supermodel Karlie Kloss, and they are parents to three children.
