Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated this Wednesday that French far-right leader Marine Le Pen is “misinformed,” after the politician warned that she would not allow the “Mexicanization” of France due to the presence of drug cartels.

“She is misinformed because the ‘Mexicanization’ that should be brought to the whole world is that of the values of Mexico's culture. Of honesty, of love, of solidarity, of fraternity, which are much needed in the entire world today,” the president explained during her morning press conference.

The president responded in this way to the statements that Le Pen made last Sunday in Orleans, during a launch event for her campaign for the 2027 French presidential elections.

In her speech, the leader of the National Rally (RN) warned that she would not allow France to fall into “Mexicanization” due to the presence of organizations dedicated to drug trafficking and promised to combat them as terrorist groups if she comes to power.

The French politician placed public security and the fight against organized crime among the priorities of her electoral proposal, along with the tightening of measures against crime and the reinforcement of border controls.

The statements were made during a rally held before about 8,500 supporters in Orleans, where Le Pen presented the main lines of her political project under the promise of driving a “rebirth” of France.

Faced with Le Pen's comparison between Mexico and the expansion of drug trafficking, Sheinbaum championed Mexican culture and its values as a positive reference for other countries.
